Nokia 5230 hard reset can be performed in different ways: using service code, settings menu and pressing buttons.
How to make Nokia 5230 soft reset?
First, you should try to make soft reset through service menu. Note: soft reset does not delete installed applications. It clears only calls, SMS and settings.
Open dialer on your phone and type following code:

Nokia 5230 will prompt you for your password lock. The default password is 12345.
The second way to perform soft reset using settings menu. Go to Menu – Settings – Reset Factory Settings. Once again enter the password (default 12345).
If soft reset has not solved your problem, then you need to perform Nokia 5230 hard reset.
Be careful, hard reset restores original settings. It means that all user data will be erased. If you have any important files, you should save them on PC or microSD memory card.
How to make Nokia 5230 hard reset?
Open the phone dialer and type *#7730#. The phone will prompt you for your password. After entering the password, the hard reset will begin.
If you cannot turn on your Nokia 5230, then you can try to perform Nokia 5230 hard reset using buttons. First, you need to turn off the phone, if it is still on. Then simultaneously press the green button and red button, camera button and power button. Hold them about 4-6 seconds. After that, your phone will turn on itself.
This method will be useful if you forget password from your phone or file system is damaged.
