The popular Chinese manufacturers presented their 5.5-inch smartphones: Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Meizu M5 Note. Both smartphones are equipped with Chinese processors and have a metal bodies.
In this article we will compare Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Meizu M5 Note. Then we will decide which one is best.
Design and controls
By design and appearance the smartphones are very similar: they both have a body made of aluminum. Among the differences are available colors. Meizu M5 Note has as many as four body colors to choose from: gold, silver, gray, and a new blue color. Redmi Note 4 comes in three standard colors: gold, silver and gray. Both smartphones weigh 175 grams, but Meizu M5 Note thinner than its competitor: 8.1 mm to 8.35 mm.
Also, smartphones have the different location of fingerprint readers. Fingerprint reader in Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is located on the rear panel directly under the camera, while Meizu M5 Note has the reader on the front panel, just below the display.

Hardware platform: CPU and memory
Both smartphones run on the basis of Chinese chipsets from MediaTek. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has received SoC Helio X20 (MT6797) with 10 cores and maximum clock speed of 2.1 GHz per core. For comparison, Meizu M5 Note is powered by 8-core 64-bit processor Helio P10 (MT6755M) with Cortex A53 cores and a maximum frequency of 1.8 GHz.
Also the difference between smartphones is in RAM and flash memory. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is available in two versions: 2/16GB and 3/64 GB GB of RAM and flash memory. Its rival Meizu M5 Note has as many as three versions: 3/16 GB, 3/32 GB and 4/64 GB of memory.
As you can see, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 wins at the middle version of Meizu M5 Note, since it has the same RAM (3 GB), but twice flash memory (64 GB). But Meizu wins the youngest version, because it can prompt the user to 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of flash memory. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 in the basic version offers only 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory.
Like Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, the smartphone Meizu M5 Note has a microSD memory card up to 128 GB. The only difference in SIM-slot: Meizu smartphone has three slots, at the same time you can put two SIM-cards and a microSD memory card, while Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has hybrid-SIM slot – either two SIM, or one SIM and microSD memory card.
Operating system version and interface
In terms of software, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 wins Meizu M5 Note, since the same versions of operating system Google Android 6.0 Marshmallow, smartphone from Xiaomi is equipped with the latest version of the proprietary firmware MIUI 8. Meizu M5 Note runs on Flyme OS 5.2 out of the box, although Meizu already released Flyme 6.

Smartphones have roughly the same battery: 4000 mAh from Meizu M5 Note and 4100 mAh from Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. The first smartphone supports proprietary fast charging mCharge, and the second device – fast charging to 5V / 2A. Both phones are charged via a regular micro USB port.
Cameras
As for the cameras smartphones do not have significant differences. Both devices equipped with 13 megapixel sensor with a phase autofocus PDAF, dual LED flash. The front cameras have 5-MP sensors. Since both smartphones are the medium price segment, you should not expect the super quality photos and videos.
Price comparison
Today Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 can be purchased for $ 130 for the basic version with 2/16 GB. The top model Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will cost about $ 175-180.
The younger version of Meizu M5 Note with 3/16 GB costs $ 130, the middle version with 3/32 is about $ 145, and the price of top-end modification with 4/64 GB is 217 dollars.

When you choose between Meizu M5 Note and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, you should pay attention not only to the processor and memory, but also on the operating system and user interface. Flyme and MIUI are completely different systems with their features and opportunities. According to statistics, MIUI is updated more frequently and longer. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is no exception.
Meizu M5 Note sold out of the box with “outdated” Flyme 5.2. But instead the smartphone can offer wide range of body colors and memory versions.
